Most iconic chairs are extremely expensive to purchase. No so for Adirondack chairs! Given the ubiquity of these chairs, the variety of material types, and classic universal look and feel, these are a must in virtually any backyard. They are available in many designs, from cheap plastic to classic wood to beautiful poly resin materials, and hit every budget.
Adirondack chairs are made to last a lifetime; many of them are made of wood or recycled plastic. Modern development has made recycled plastics more durable and sturdy for outdoor use. .
Drill 1⁄4″ holes through the side members and front leg to accept stainless steel carriage bolts. Use a clamp to hold the parts in position; the leg should be flush to the side’s front edge and 113⁄4″ up from the leg bottom to the bottom edge of the front crosspiece.
So those, unfortunately are the colours that generally tend to be most readily available.
American classic goes new wave with asymmetrical tops. Works well linked together
You can count on this Adirondack chair to outlast many of its wooden counterparts considering the superior resistance to fading, splintering, chipping, and corrosion. Despite this level of dependability, the chair still maintains the look of real wood. On top of that, you can also enjoy the relaxing experience it provides without having to go through complex maintenance processes. Polywood offers this Adirondack chair in multiple color choices to add a touch of character to your patio.
Since it’s made out of such a tough durable plastic you don’t have to worry about it getting damaged from the elements outside. A big part of this is thanks to it being waterproof this is a nice advantage to this Adirondack chair that some others don’t.

This Muskoka chair kit features pieces made of durable, FSC-certified Eastern white pine, that you can stain or paint to suit your preference. You can also leave the finish as is. This chair kit comes ready for assembly along with all the hardware you'll need. Built to last, it requires minimal maintenance and is great for indoor and outdoor use. what is the square footage of this chair? how much wood finish would i need for 3 chairs? I"m assuming I need to cover the back/bottom, etc as well. No. They come unfinished. I gave mine a light sanding before assembly and then painted it with outdoor paint. You could also use a stain and sealant. No this is not pressure treated. You will want to give the parts a bit of sanding before assembly and it will stand up to the weather better with paint or other finish. I cannot find the weight rating on these chairs. Does anyone know what the maximum weight rating is? I was looking into these chairs on another website, but they were sold out. That website has a rating of 441 lbs for the max weight. Absolutely thes chairs can be painted. Like any wood project the chair parts should be sanded before assembly. The wood material I selected was pine and it was of good quality and very easy to paint. The brighter the colour the better. We are using our chairs on the vineyard in B.C. Most chairs are too short in the seat to knee area - what do yours measure ? I'm 6 feet tall and am really comfortable in this chair. When can I get this in Milton or Mississauga or Burlington ? Rated 3 out of 5 by EmberCat from Great value but difficult instructions/assembly I was so pleased to find an affordable Muskoka chair. Having built a lot of assembly required furniture, I figured I’d do well putting these together. But holy smokes, the instructions need some better diagrams and more steps. The angles didn’t always line up, the sides marked left were actually right, and on some pieces, the pre-drilled marker holes were nowhere to be found. Some pieces were unequal sizes and the back curve is frustratingly uneven. However, now that the three chairs are done, they are comfy, lovely to look at, and I feel good about not adding further plastic to the environment. Rated 5 out of 5 by Rubao from Easy to put together, looks good I bought 4 of these and wanted to stain in colour. I used Sico and although not recommended by Sico, I decided to protect using polyurethane. If you want the chairs to stand few seasons, you have to do it, one rainfall and some will start cracking. Pine is not a very strong wood, so protect it. I pre-sanded for smoother painting, stained, protected and sanded once again. Looks very good. Rated 3 out of 5 by Chispy1 from Ok The directions are horrible. The first one was built as instructed and did not match the picture because it tells you to do one part upside down. So we changed it for the next 3. Then there were different kinds of screws in another one so we had to make sure the really long ones were in a place where no one would get poked accidentally. While it might be comfortable and affordable your marriage might not survive! Rated 5 out of 5 by tracey26 from Great Purchase For someone who enjoys DIY’s, this was a great buy. It’s definitely a full weekend project- one day of sanding and assembling, the following day to stain/paint (then additional time to weather proof). I can however see how some people would struggle with this project. If you aren’t the hands on type, I’d find someone who could help you. It will save you from swearing in frustration. I’m happy with the way they came out! Considering purchasing another 2 next summer. Rated 5 out of 5 by Drew Constellation from Excellent Value Bought 2 of these Muskoka Chair Kits for the backyard. The price was excellent, especially since other stores were selling similar kits for more. Building them was mostly straightforward. There is a video on youtube of someone building this exact chair. Trickiest part was probably lining up the 5 back support pieces to form a perfect arc. Mine didn't turn out perfectly but that's okay, it is pretty close and has that outdoor rustic feel. You may want to stain the chairs and give them a quick sand with some fine sandpaper, but I left them as is, and am happy with the results. For the price and the decent quality these were a great buy. Rated 4 out of 5 by Bernie27 from Needs sanding Thought the chair looks good once assembled. Not the easiest to assemble but pre-drilled holes help. Should have minimal knowledge of construction to even attempt to assemble this chair! Regret not sanding the pieces before I stained them(stain before assembly) because arm rests are ruff. Being in the Beach area of Toronto, Bear Chairs are not uncommon on front porches. Maybe it’s just me, but I find that certain areas of the city dictate landscaping and curb acceptability. What goes as acceptable in one area, may not be perceived as in good taste in another. So although “Bear Chairs” on porches in the Beach are the norm, I haven’t seen many in Leaside, North Toronto, or the West End. In our area, these chairs are quite common on verandas and porches.
The chair is easily assembled and comes with the right holes. It can be put together by one person and requires no technical know-how.
These highlights, combined with the way that this seat accompanies a surprising 12-year guarantee, implies that you can appreciate the Hamilton for quite a long time with no maintenance or costly upkeep.

Another great feature of this type of lumber is that it won’t splinter, crack, or rot. The color won’t chip, peel, or fade, even if left under a hot sun for weeks at a time. This is because the materials include UV inhibitors and stabilizers to give it that extra protection from environmental issues. This makes this model one of the best all-weather Adirondack chairs around.
Many individuals would prefer not to put resources into wood furniture for their external zones, or territories that are dependent upon the climate. With these PolyTEAK seats you never need to stress over them getting wt, welcoming in wood decay and malicious bugs like wood lice or termites.
