There are many styles of chairs in the market place that would suit this environment. Rather than stylizing the deck, I’d prefer seeing comfortable wooden chairs. Wood is always ‘in style’, especially at cottages. They may not be considered chic, but Adirondack chairs are not chic either.
Now it’s time to install the seat slats. Start at the front with the front edge overhanging the front crosspiece by about 1⁄4“. Put one screw in each end and use two screws equally spaced attaching it to the front crosspiece.
The back is contoured to fit nicely to the shape of your back. The seat is also contoured to make it more comfortable on your bottom and the backs of your legs.

You want all of your pieces to match as closely to the template as possible. And you may have cut a few pieces a little rough, or not exactly on the template so you will want to sand the edges smooth. To do this you can use a spindle sander. I admit that I started out clamping matching pieces together to attempt to sand them together. But I eventually gave up on that and sanded each piece one at a time, stopping periodically to compare them to one another. This is the oscillating spindle sander that I have HERE.
