There is a reason why wood and Adirondack furniture go together so well. These chairs were first cut from wood around the Adirondack mountains, and so this material harks back to the very beginnings of this fashion in furniture. When you make a wooden Adirondack chair, you know that you are following a tradition which is well-established and that your furniture will be very attractive. Wood is also cheaper to obtain than resin-making kits, and much less intimidating to an amateur DIYer.

The material is designed to look like real wood, however, it lacks the inconvenience of yearly maintenance that real wood typically requires. This chair is constructed not to fade, crack, split, or warp and it is backed by limited lifetime warranty.
If your on the fence like I was because of the negative reviews don't be afraid to buy these. They may not be perfect, but they are a good value for a wood chair. 5.0 out of 5 stars Good chairs to paint. By M. Adams on December 2, 2015 Love these chairs! I bought two for my front porch remodel and I'm glad I picked these up despite the mixed reviews. I read several reviews before buying -thank you reviewers- and was concerned about the quality. I'm glad I decided to pick these up. For the $50 price these are a great deal. They are adorandak STYLED so don't expect a $300 lifetime quality chair. I shopped around and most chairs similar to these were in the $100 range at my local retail stores. I did note a few issues the other reviewers wrote about:
If such a person has a spine or back problem, then it will be difficult for such a person to get out of an Adirondack chair without help. But for an able and agile person, then this is not a problem.

These seats emulate the appearance of a genuine wood seat, however you never need to give the tedious and once in a while exorbitant upkeep that wood ones require. This seat not exclusively is unfathomably sturdy and can stand the trial of time, yet it is likewise an exquisite expansion to any outside scene where unwinding is an extreme objective.
The construction of this chair is totally heavy duty. The lumber used is resistant to wear, tear, and stains. The lumber is treated in such a way that you will never have to stain, waterproof, or paint this chair for it to retain its vibrant charm. This chair is made in the USA with awesome, high-quality, stainless steel hardware, and it is simple to assemble (some assembly is required, but it’s a manageable amount). The color will remain just as full as the day you purchase it, and the lumber also promises to remain intact– there is no need to worry about splintering, cracks, chips, or rotting, as this Adirondack has been built to keep all of these frequent annoyances from ever occurring.
Your sister, Elizabeth was right. She instantly enjoyed the view and was grateful to be there. I wish you were able to enjoy nature’s bounty when you check into Airbnb or cabins and not see what’s wrong with the inside. We all enjoy a well styled abode but if your bed is comfortable and the place is clean you should be in your happy place. These little cabins have so much potential. As a colour expert, maybe you could write them a nice email with ideas for making their cabins a happier place – chairs to accommodate all, lamps for reading, etc.
Next, install the outer back slats. Position the bottom of the slat 1″ from the inside of the side piece. Secure it, then position the upper portion so that it touches the inside edge of the arm. Fasten it. Once both outside pieces are in place, the remaining two intermediate slats are merely positioned with equal spaces between their adjoining slats.
When selecting the wood for your Adirondack chair, there are many factors that need to be considered. Design, style, durability, grain, patterns, and details all play roles in making a good wood chair. Generally, Pine, Cedar & Teak are the best woods for Adirondack chairs.
