Shorea: If aged wood in shades of gray and silver appeals to you, you need an Adirondack chair made of shorea. Some types of shorea start as light brown and slowly take on a soft gray if left unfinished. Shorea resists bugs and holds up well in tough weather conditions. Other wood: Less-common woods you may find include hemlock, acacia, and fir. Hemlock and acacia are hardwoods. Fir is a softwood that is occasionally used to make inexpensive Adirondack chairs. Our recycled plastic furniture is made from recycled milk jugs and plastic containers. When they have been recycled, the plastic products are then manufactured into a synthetic form of lumber which imitates the look of wood but has all the advantages of plastic.
The material feels like real wood and does not require any form of maintenance. It does fade, crack, split or warp and cannot be eating by termites, which could cause damage to the chair.

If you’re looking for something that has a larger capacity, you can find them it will just take a bit of work (or make it easy on yourself and read my reviews above!). There are some chairs out there that have a max capacity of 500lbs but you might lose some comfort when you need more durability.

One thing that I have to mention with this chair is the sheer number of color varieties it has. Most companies will offer a couple like 5 -6 which is great. This company has gone above and beyond offering a total of 18 different colors so there’s most likely something for your outdoor setting.

PolyTEAK uses a Poly Lumber material to combine durability and aesthetics. Due to its marine-grade stainless steel construction, it can withstand harsh rain, wind, or snow. Since this chair weighs 36 pounds, even the toughest of winds can’t knock it down. We like how easy it is to maintain. Just scrub the chair with soap and water to clean. Waterproof Extremely durable; lasts a long time Looks and feels like real wood Resistant to rain and snow Easy to clean, just wipe it down Convenient storage option, just fold the chair down
Adirondack chairs have become a symbol for lounging, vacationing, relaxing… so, for many of us they bring up happy memories. Their shape doesn’t only make them a comfortable choice for adults; they’re great for kids too! Whether you have a lake house, a beach cottage, or a backyard with a deck or patio, classic Adirondack chairs offer the perfect place to lean back and relax.
Oak: Durable and solid, oak is a popular wood for all types of furniture, and for good reason. It’s heavy, giving Adirondack chairs a solid feel, and it’s beautiful. The price is comparable to that of pine and cedar. However, maintenance is another matter. Direct sunlight can cause streaking or color changes. Oak chairs should be kept in the shade, and they will need a UV-protectant stain.
These maintenance-free Adirondack chairs don’t get particularly hot when placed outside in a sunny environment for a long period of time, though some of the Polywood tables have been reported to have gotten hot.
White would definitely NOT work here since there isn’t a stitch of white on the building. Black would work but it would be bleaker since the entire colour scheme could use a lot more life and contrast.
